Hi ladies! I just wanted to share a few reviews of recently acquired products, hopefully there's something for everyone:
Tigi Catwalk Your Highness Root Boost Spray and Thickening Gel Creme - I've been through about 4 cans of the Root Boost spray in the past but I didn't repurchase because I couldn't find it any cheaper than last time until now (cheapskate!). I ended up getting two cans because I love this stuff! It's been repackaged but I really like the new look! It comes out like really small dots of foam and spray it into my roots (duh!) for an extra bit of volume. It doesn't make my hair sticky or stiff but plumps it up nicely! I used it for the first time in ages on Saturday and I'd forgotten how great it is, it's definitely one of my favourite hair products!
I decided to order the Thickening Gel Creme along with my 2 cans of Root Boost since it's in the same line and I guess is meant to be complimentary. It's a runny lotion consistency and I used 2 pumps of this through the length of my hair to thicken it up a bit. My hair is already quite thick but this product did a great job of making it even thicker! It kind of gives the managability of day old hair to freshly washed hair (I wash mine every day, yes I know it's bad but I can't stand greasy flat roots!). You can feel this product in your hair a little bit which may be a downside for some, but personally I didn't mind since it's not sticky or anything, it just makes your hair not as silky - I hope you know what I mean!
I'd recommend both of these products to ladies on a mission to get bigger and thicker hair! The cheapest place online I could find these was
Escentual, which I'd never ordered from before, but I went for it and everything went smoothly - my order arrived well packaged and on time! The prices I paid were: Root Boost - £5.90 (RRP £10.50), Thickening Gel - £5.35 (RRP £9.50).
Chanel UV Essential SPF 50 - This is my first Chanel purchase! I wanted some SPF that I can wear under makeup and since this product has rave reviews on Makeup Alley I thought I'd splash out. Sunscreen is the only product that will stop the sun from ageing you. I'm approaching my mid 20's now and my facial collagen production is starting to slow - I don't want the sun accelerating that process!
This is a runny thin lotion that has the classic suncream smell which I love, it reminds me of holidays! I've been using this after moisturiser and before foundation, it sinks in after about 10 mins and doesn't leave my skin greasy.
I must admit I was surprised at how small it was when I first opened it but it is 30ml (the same size as most foundation bottles) and you only need a small amount for your whole face and neck. It costs £34 which is quite a lot considering there are lots of other brands providing SPF 50 for your face for half the price (Nivea, La Roche-Posay, No7). I will use this product up but unless I've fallen in love with it by the time it's empty I'll probably go for something cheaper next time.
MAC Fix+ - I'd heard so much about this product and of course I ended up giving in to the hype! I wanted it to help 'set' my makeup and to stop my powder (MAC MSFN) from getting clumpy during the day. Fix+ can also be used to 'refresh' your makeup later in the day or simply as a cooling facial mist. I've read that some people use it to foil pigments for a more intense look/to use them as eyeliners which I'm excited to try.
I recommend using this after foundation, concealer, powder and blusher but before any eye or lip products. I spray 2-3 sprays from as far away as my arm will go - spraying it close can result in blobs of water on your face which will ruin your makeup! I then use my hairdryer on a slow, cool setting to dry the Fix+, hopefully resulting in a flawless look!
I'm quite liking this product so far although I think it's probably something I could live without, I just didn't want to feel like I was missing out on a Holy Grail product!
17 Wild Curls mascara - I won this in a Twitter competition and it arrived yesterday. I love the leopard print packaging and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it has that 'click' closure that more expensive mascaras have. It claims to have an innovative brush but I think it's pretty standard, it's not exactly
Phenomen'Eyes! It also says it'll curl your lashes for up to 10 hours and give 6x more volume. I think the length and volume it gives are great for day time but you wouldn't see me giving up YSL Faux Cils or Diorshow for Wild Curls for nights out. I always curl my lashes anyway because I have small eyes and it really helps to open them up, so the whole thing about it curling my lashes is a bit redundant. It feels ok on, it's not too crispy or clumpy, so overall, I'd say this mascara is good for daytime but it isn't anything groundbreaking! You can see me wearing it in my FOTD below.
I bought
Illamasqua's Unrequited blush from Debenhams last week and I really like it! It looks a bit scary in the pan but on me it's a lovely not too OTT colour. It's very pigmented so you only need a tiny bit so I can see this lasting a while (which is good because it's more expensive than MAC!). You can see me wearing it in my FOTD below.

What do you think of my purchases? Anything you already own or have I turned you on or off a product?
Disclaimer: I purchased all of these items except for the 17 mascara which I won in a competition. I always give my honest opinion! Usually I research stuff a lot before I buy which is why I'm usually quite happy with my purchases.
